Internationalisation of Education


“1 Decembrie 1918″ University of Alba Iulia develops an internationalization strategy, following certain lines : extending the international dimension of teaching/learning process, improving the research activities in order to become a pole of excellence in Europe, raising intercultural and pluringual awareness, active involvement in social and corporate governance, continuously extending the cooperation with institutions  worldwide  (EU and non-EU countries , the United States, China, India etc.) “1 Decembrie 1918″” University of Alba Iulia has currently concluded 100 Erasmus cooperation agreements with higher educations institutions for student and staff mobility, as well as 25 Erasmus cooperation agreements with various institutions for student placement. For international students the university provides one-year programme in Romanian as a Foreign Language (Preparatory Year).

„1 Decembrie 1918” University of Alba Iulia is committed to continuing the process of extending, modernising and adapting its research and education facilities, and in developing a complex – both theoretical and practical – academic training system for all those who are willing to become highly qualified specialists in different fields of activity.

The University promotes excellence in scientific research, by developing and strengthening academic relations at national and international level, supporting individual excellence of teaching staff and researchers, increasing the quality of students’ life and creating opportunities for personal and professional development in order to help them actively integrate in society, promoting an efficient institutional management, developing and updating material resources, providing and diversifying financial resources. The new stage of maturity aims at intensifying these actions, having as main purpose the increase of every category of performances. The University develops intensive collaboration with institutions from the secondary and higher educational systems from Romania and abroad, viable and constructive partnerships with public and private institutions and the enthusiastic support of local and regional officials.

“1 Decembrie 1918” University of Alba Iuliahas now 4 Faculties – the Faculty of History and Philology, the Faculty of Sciences, the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Orthodox Theology –, academic departments, 20 research structures and centres, about 6,000 students enrolled at two types of courses: full time and distance learning, for all the three cycles – Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral.
