On October 24th, Commissioner Hahn today marked a historic moment as he crossed the new bridge connecting Vidin to Calafat. “I am proud that the EU Cohesion Fund has contributed to the building of this remarkable bridge. It is a rich symbol of ‘Europe in action’ – connecting communities and cultures, and achieving what our Union set out to do. It is a strategic link in the Trans- European corridors connecting South Eastern and Central Europe. The bridge is proof of good co-operation between the two countries, which I hope will continue in the framework of the Danube Strategy” said the commissioner.

The Commission has been monitoring the construction process of the bridge closely to overcome delays and ensure speedy implementation.
